Garage floor guide

Garage floors face hot tyres, oil, dropped tools and wash-down. Hot-tyre pickup — where a coating lifts with a warm tyre — is the classic failure, and it is a preparation problem.

Preparation beats product

Mechanical grinding, crack and pothole repair, and moisture testing come before any coating decision. A coating rolled onto a sealed or dusty slab has nothing to grip.

System choice

Flake and solid-colour epoxy systems with a durable topcoat handle domestic garages well. Flake finishes hide dust and tyre marks better than plain colour.

Living with it

Wipe oil promptly, avoid dragging metal stands, and use a soft brush and mild detergent. A well-prepared garage floor cleans in minutes.
