Paving fails from below. Sinking, rutting and weed-filled joints are almost always a sub-base or edge-restraint problem, not a paver problem.
We excavate to the depth the loading requires, place and compact a graded sub-base, screed the bedding layer, lay to pattern with controlled falls, install edge restraints, then compact and joint-fill.
How do patio and traffic-bearing paving differ?
Patio paving, pedestrian paths and interlocking paving for vehicles need different material and base specifications. Check finished levels at doors, wet grip and how surface water reaches a suitable outlet. Large slabs and small pavers also need different laying details; visual appearance alone does not determine suitability.
Should failed paving be repaired or completely re-laid?
Inspect settlement, edge movement and drainage before agreeing the extent of repairs. A paving installation quote should describe excavation, base preparation, restraints and transitions to existing surfaces. Re-laying only the visible units may leave the original cause of movement unresolved.
