Sub-base depth matches the load
A pedestrian walkway and a driveway carrying a loaded bakkie need different builds. Excavation depth, compacted layer thickness and material grade should all be stated in the quote.
Edge restraints
Without a restrained edge, pavers migrate outwards and the field opens up. Concrete haunching or kerbing on every free edge is not optional.
Falls and drainage
Paving must shed water away from buildings, with channel drains at thresholds and low points. Flat paving pools, and pooled water undermines the base.
Jointing and finishing
Joints must be filled and compacted properly. Sealing is optional and mostly cosmetic; it does not compensate for a weak base.
